Spiceworks stops working without a stable internet connection?

This morning our ISP is having problems with our internet access, and as such we are currently experiencing very slow and patchy internet throughout our company.
Surprisingly, Spiceworks is also constantly becoming unresponsive. We restart spiceworks and it works fine for a few minutes before becoming unresponsive again. We restart again, it works fine for a few minutes before becoming unresponsive again, and repeat.
Our main use for spiceworks is the helpdesk, so it is quite frustrating that users can't go to create tickets (and see our notice about the internet issues), and we can't respond to existing tickets.
I understand that Spiceworks is ad-supported, but surely it can still work fine temporarily without a stable internet connection?
