Best Western Announces Winner of April Fools’ Day Online Promotion for Race Fans

NASCAR enthusiast Dennis Tedeschi wanted to play the ultimate April Fools’ prank on his son, Benjamin, and Best Western International, the Official Hotel of NASCAR®, is helping him do just that. Today, the two were named the grand prize winners of the hotel chain’s April Fools’ promotion, which gives the father and son the gift of NASCAR immortality.

As part of the grand prize, a photo taken while Benjamin was bouncing on a trampoline will be prominently displayed on the Best Western #99 Toyota Camry, which will be driven by David Reutimann at the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series race in Phoenix on Friday, April 11. The event will be broadcast on ESPN2 beginning at 9:30 p.m. (EST).

The Tedeschis will also receive round-trip airfare, Best Western accommodations and transportation to Phoenix for the race, as well as suite passes and an exclusive, behind-the-scenes garage tour courtesy of Michael Waltrip Racing.

“I’m pretty sure my son will forgive me for playing this prank on him,” said Tedeschi. “I can’t wait to see his face on the Best Western #99 car as it speeds around the track. We’re calling everyone we know to watch!”

Best Western launched the April Fools’ promotion online in February, encouraging race fans to log onto www.bestwesternracing.com to submit a “funny” picture of a friend, family member, co-worker, boss or neighbor for a chance to have it displayed on the #99 Camry. Best Western received hundreds of submissions from NASCAR fans eager to have their photographs displayed on the racecar. Benjamin’s image, which caught him with static-filled hair while mid-bounce, best captured the essence of the Best Western promotion while adhering to the required conditions of originality, humor and image quality.

“The Best Western April Fools’ promotion was a neat idea and I’m looking forward to running Benjamin’s photo on my #99 Best Western Toyota Camry,” David Reutimann said. “I have two top 15 finishes at Phoenix and maybe having Benjamin’s photo on our car will bring us some good luck. Our best finish of the season is third in the #99 Toyota. Hopefully, we can top that with Best Western at Phoenix.”
